American Psychologist Abraham Maslow created the “Hierarchy of Needs” and at its based is the physiological need. This includes food, water, sleep, and warmth. Maslow believed that people are motivated to fulfill basic needs before advanced needs. So last year, besides the other great work done, we were also fulfilling the need of warmth with our TOMS Shoes Distribution Programme. Through this initiative we are also preventing hookworm, parasitic diseases, and fungal and bacterial conditions. These shoes are considered to be durable and comfortable.
So, in 2014, we distributed over thirty thousand shoes to various primary and secondary schools in Toledo, Belize City and Rural areas, Cayo District as well as Orange Walk District.
This year, we plan on distributing more shoes starting the middle of this year.
