The Smart Kids Program is a primary school intervention program for at- risk pre-adolescent boys between ages of 10 to 12 years old. The goal of the program is to create a safe space for the participants to share their thoughts and feelings about the environments in which they live and play. This safe space also provides each participant the opportunity to interact with peers in meaningful, thoughtful and respectful way that develops and enhances their interpersonal skills.

The program involves three primary schools in Belize City. Over the course of sixteen weeks, participants attend three different sessions; curriculum facilitation, counseling and tutoring. The curriculum facilitation sessions provides the space for dialogue about topics that aims to help participants understand themselves and the environments (home, school, community) of which they are a part. Counseling sessions addresses specific and individual needs of each participant while academic tutoring addresses their academic performance in school.

SmartKids aims to incorporate not only student beneficiaries but parent beneficiaries as well. Thus, a home visitation component where parents provide insight in to the lives of each participant and their families.  With the parents involvement, in addition to, the three core components; the Smart Kids Program provides a holistic approach at helping at risk pre-adolescent boys. Resulting in the development and enhancement of their coping and adaptive skills that makes them better equipped for the world they live in.
